Length, density, strand thickness and scalp condition are more useful than one curl-type number. Decide whether you want definition, quicker styling or easier detangling. Copying another person's large product collection cannot promise identical results.
AAD provides curly and coily hair guidance ↗. Use it as a gentle-care foundation while adapting products and frequency to your needs. An irritated scalp deserves separate assessment.
Match the brush to its task
For detangling, compare tooth spacing, flexibility and smooth edges. Work in sections without forcing knots. A brush for styling clumps may be used differently from a detangling tool.
Read wet-hair suitability and cleaning instructions. Avoid buying several similar brushes before understanding their differences. Painful detangling calls for reviewing technique and hair condition.
Keep testing manageable
Start with cleansing, suitable conditioner and one styling product if needed. Slip, hold and volume are different functions, so gel and heavy cream are not interchangeable. Change one element while keeping the remaining method similar.
Record amounts and drying technique. This helps identify what reduces tangles or maintains shape. One trial may be unclear when water, haircut and technique changed simultaneously, but skin reactions should not be ignored.
Drying and further help
Avoid rough rubbing and excessive pulling. Follow diffuser and dryer instructions with appropriate settings and distance. For sleep, reduce friction without tight tension.
Show a stylist photographs of your own normal hair and current products. Marked shedding, inflammation or persistent itching needs a medical route. A useful routine makes ordinary days easier rather than requiring a complicated daily ritual for a perfect photograph.
