Finding late-night dining in London and checking kitchen hours

Closing time and kitchen hours differ

A restaurant or bar can remain open after hot-food orders stop. Ask for last food orders, the menu available at your arrival time and walk-in arrangements. For a late flight or show, give the realistic arrival time rather than the event's finish.

Do not expect the full daytime menu overnight. Choices may be limited and part of the dining room closed. Check child admission, entry restrictions and ordering time.

Check the branch and day

VQ publishes Chelsea and Bloomsbury hours ↗. Checked on 7 October 2026, Chelsea separately lists overnight takeaway-and-delivery-only intervals on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A general 24-hour headline therefore does not mean continuous dine-in service every day.

Duck & Waffle publishes menus and guest information ↗ with different service periods. Check the date, late-night menu, dress code and actual availability. These are examples, not guaranteed walk-in admission.

Booking and total cost

Include food, drinks, service and the journey home. For late reservations, ask about card guarantees, no-shows and permitted lateness. If your show overruns, know how to contact the restaurant and how long the table is held.

For groups, check minimum spending and staggered arrivals. Avoid sending part of the group ahead without an agreed seating arrangement. For delivery, enter the address to see the operating branch and actual arrival window.

Have a backup

Check the last train or bus and the cost of another journey. Transport can substantially increase a late dinner's cost. Identify a second nearby option in case the kitchen closes or the queue is long.

With allergies, confirm information with the night team rather than relying on the daytime menu. Ask about last orders before sitting down. An open bar does not necessarily promise dinner service. Call before travelling, particularly on holidays or when arriving after midnight.
