Choosing a London gym with included group classes

Start with a realistic week

Choose two or three activities you can actually attend, such as strength, dance and a gentler class. Then compare centres near home or work. An extensive catalogue offers little if suitable sessions clash with your shifts.

Read the specific branch’s ordinary weekly timetable, levels and availability. Ask how often teachers and times change. Hundreds of classes across a chain do not establish access at your centre.

Check membership inclusions

Better’s monthly options ↗ vary by centre coverage and access time, while its fitness-class listings ↗ help compare activities. This illustrates what to check, rather than showing that every gym tariff includes everything.

Request written inclusions for regular classes, specialist workshops, reformer, swimming and other branches. Premium sessions may cost extra. Off-peak restrictions can affect class times as well as gym entry.

Understand booking

Ask when reservations open, whether waiting lists and booking limits apply, and about no-show charges. An included class can still require a reservation. Establish early-arrival requirements for beginners and whether gym induction is included.

Try a single visit at your intended time before signing a lengthy agreement. Assess travel, changing facilities, ventilation, space and whether instructions are audible. Discuss relevant health limitations and level beforehand; a low-impact label is not an individual assessment.

Compare the complete cost

Include joining fees, monthly payments, towels, lockers, extra classes and the minimum term. Check price changes, freezes and cancellation. Monthly payment does not necessarily mean no minimum commitment.

Calculate cost using realistic attendance rather than an ideal daily plan. For one weekly class, drop-in access or a small package may be more convenient. Save the tariff and promised inclusions, then check after a trial month whether you can attend the sessions you wanted.
