RF is not a complete description

External radiofrequency treatment differs from RF microneedling using needles. Identify the model, energy delivery and purpose, such as scars or texture. Ordinary and RF microneedling are not interchangeable services.

Request skin assessment and alternatives. A universal package without examination warrants another opinion. Customers should not choose depth or passes from promotional videos.

Understand the warning

FDA issued a safety communication on 15 October 2025 ↗ about serious complications with certain RF microneedling uses, including burns, scars, fat loss and nerve damage. This is a US risk warning, not a universal UK prohibition.

Ask how those risks are addressed for your anatomy and device. Non-invasive marketing cannot replace informed consent. Obtain a complication-management plan.

Check the practitioner

Discuss device training, experience, insurance, sterile single-use cartridges and protective measures. NHS recommends checking qualifications and follow-up ↗. An attractive social-media account is insufficient.

Disclose medicines, implants, skin conditions, scarring tendencies and previous procedures. Compatibility depends on instructions and clinical assessment. Do not independently stop prescribed treatment.

Cost and recovery

Compare consultation, anaesthetic, areas, supplies, reviews and estimated repeats. Obtain written aftercare and complication signs. Establish outcome-assessment timing and course-stopping terms. Significant pain, burns, sensation changes or infection signs need clinical help rather than waiting for the next routine session. Retain device and treatment details for any subsequent assessment.
