Start at Westminster

Begin beside Westminster Bridge, where Parliament and the Elizabeth Tower stand above the Thames. Allow time to look at the buildings instead of treating the bridge as a quick photograph stop. Check how you will reach the starting point, including station exits and step-free requirements. A walk does not require a paid attraction at every stop.

Cross to the South Bank

Cross the bridge and follow the south bank towards the London Eye and the Southbank area. Stop for coffee or keep walking along the river. This is an editorial suggestion for a self-guided visit. Paid interiors, cruises and observation tickets are separate choices, with their own opening hours and booking conditions.

Leave a margin

Choose one additional stop rather than attempting to see the whole city in a day. Check weather, transport changes and riverside access. Keep a shorter version of the route for rain or tired legs. The evening Thames photograph illustrates the wider river and City, rather than the exact Westminster starting point.
