Your first weeks after moving: a personal checklist
Housing, documents and everyday arrangements in a workable order.
Make a personal list
Separate urgent arrangements from tasks that can wait. Confirm accommodation, access to funds, phone connection and how to reach the places you need. List obligations associated with your own immigration route rather than adopting a universal relocation checklist.
Organise documents
Keep identity and status evidence, your tenancy, employment or study records and essential contacts in a secure folder. Share only the specific information required by a verified organisation. Avoid posting identification documents or share codes in community chats.
Set up daily life
Check bills, local council requirements, healthcare registration and school arrangements where relevant. Schedule a few tasks each day and retain receipts and written confirmations. Rules vary between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so use the service for the part of the UK where you live.
