Provide exact product details

A quote needs product codes, quantities, extra doors, drawers and internal fittings. Assemble a wardrobe does not describe the full task. Give the address, floor, access and available working space.

IKEA explains assembly through Taskrabbit ↗. Availability depends on postcode and products; booking separately through the platform can involve different terms. Retain your chosen channel's confirmation.

Separate additional work

Discuss anti-tip fixing and wall suitability. Assembly, moving packages upstairs, dismantling old items and removing packaging are separate tasks. IKEA's service terms list exclusions ↗, so do not assume plumbing or electrics are included.

Obtain necessary drilling permission in rented homes. Explain known services, wall construction and building restrictions. Suitable fixings need assessment; an arbitrary screw is not a substitute for the manufacturer's safety arrangement.

Prepare for the visit

Schedule after confirmed delivery. Check packages and damage and retain labels. Place original packaging in the installation room as required. Clear the floor and route, providing light and safe access.

Record fixed or hourly prices, minimum time, fees and cancellation. Ask what happens with missing or damaged parts. Completion in one visit may become impossible and a return visit needs agreement.

Inspect the result

Check alignment, doors, drawers, fixings, sharp edges and instruction compliance. Do not load furniture before all required steps are complete. Anti-tip protection is particularly important for tall units and children's rooms.

Keep instructions, spare original parts and the receipt. Establish packaging disposal: IKEA's checked page says it is not removed. Avoid blocking communal routes with boxes. If unfinished, obtain written guidance about safe use until the next visit.
