Define the promised result

Lamination, cold repair and molecular treatment do not identify one standard formula. Ask for the brand and exact stages. Establish whether the effect is temporary coating and smoothness or chemical reshaping.

This matters when you want to retain curls. Shine photographed after straightening does not prove the same finish after ordinary drying. Ask what happens without additional styling.

History and compatibility

Describe bleaching, colour, perms, keratin and breakage. Request assessment of different sections and any appropriate strand test. A cosmetic smoothing product should not promise to restore every damaged hair to its original state.

Check compatibility with future colouring and home care. Establish whether an expensive maintenance kit is required by instructions or merely optional. Obtain washing and repeat-treatment advice for the actual formula.

Safety

HSE describes hairdressing-product risks ↗. Discuss skin protection and ventilation for volatile products. Cold does not mean chemical-free or allergy-free.

NHS explains hair-dye reactions ↗, useful for symptom awareness rather than testing every care formula. Mention past reactions and stop for significant burning, eye irritation or breathing symptoms.

Cost and duration

Compare length, density, washing, drying, heat, cutting and home products. Request a realistic effect duration given washing frequency. Suitable ordinary care may be more practical than regularly repeated salon packages. Establish correction terms and retain the list of products applied rather than only the service's marketing name.
