Hardness comes from dissolved minerals. Thames Water explains its region ↗, but identify your own supplier and local information. Kettle scale does not establish the cause of every hair or skin problem.
Moving can also change climate, heating, shampoo and styling. Record whether the issue is washing feel, length breakage, itching or shedding because these need different responses.
Read filter specifications
A shower filter and water softener perform different technical jobs. Ask what the device reduces, how that is measured and what replacement cartridges cost. Hair-beauty wording does not prove reduced hardness.
Check permission and shower compatibility in rented homes. Consider pressure, maintenance and leak prevention. One hairstyle review is not a sufficient basis for major plumbing changes.
Keep care simple
AAD's hair-care guidance ↗ focuses on appropriate cleansing, conditioning and gentle handling. Choose products for scalp and length needs and change one element at a time.
For clarifying or chelating shampoos, follow the particular product's purpose and frequency. Hard-water wording does not justify intensive daily cleansing. Bleached lengths may need separate care discussed with your colourist.
Assess results and symptoms
Keep skincare manageable rather than introducing many scented products together. Persistent irritation, pain, damaged skin or marked hair loss needs appropriate medical assessment. A salon filter recommendation is not a diagnosis.
Compare product, device and maintenance costs with noticeable benefit. Keep instructions and stop products causing reactions. The aim is comfortable care rather than assuming every London home requires a large treatment system.
