Identify the correct New Year

The night of 31 December 2026 welcomes 2027; older articles can label years confusingly. Start with City Hall's official page ↗. Checked on 7 October 2026, it offers ticket-release updates; previous prices and release dates are not current promises.

An official-looking website name proves little. Follow the organiser's named ticket partner. The controlled viewing area requires the appropriate ticket; walking nearby does not establish admission or a useful view.

Area and group arrangements

Once published, compare entry point, approach direction, sightlines, access and admission times. Different areas may prevent meeting friends across boundaries. Coordinate before purchasing.

Check age conditions, naming and transfer rules. Consider children's tolerance of waiting, cold, noise and late travel. A nearby restaurant or river cruise need not include entry to the official viewing area.

Getting home

Use TfL's planner ↗ for the actual date and time once festive services are published. Do not assume free travel or every line running overnight from older years. Nearby stations may restrict entrances and exits.

Choose primary and backup routes including walking. Taxis may not reach closed streets. Save accommodation details and directions offline and agree a meeting point if phones fail.

Preparation

Read current bag, food, drink, toilet and attendance rules. Bring suitable clothing and phone power. Do not assume you can leave and re-enter without confirmation.

Without an official ticket, choose another clearly described event or evening plan. A “secret free spot” cannot guarantee sightlines or access through closures. Follow event instructions and transport updates on the day.
