Big and tall solve different problems

A broad chest and tall height need different proportions. A larger size may add width without enough sleeve length. Record chest, waist, inside leg and height; shirts also need collar and sleeve measurements.

Jacamo lists different sizes and lengths ↗. Its brand-specific charts ↗ show why the same 3XL label should not be assumed identical across retailers.

Measure for the category

T-shirts need suitable shoulders, chest and body length; trousers need waist, rise and inside leg. Formalwear has additional jacket and trouser dimensions. A casualwear label does not necessarily translate to a suit.

Look for separates if your upper and lower body require different sizes. This can reduce alterations. For jeans, compare stretch and thigh shape: enough waistband room does not guarantee comfort while seated.

Plan fitting

Confirm any physical branch and its extended range before travelling. An online retailer may not offer fittings even if the brand once had shops. Recheck old branch lists rather than relying on them.

For home fitting, choose a few sizes using measurements. Sit, walk and raise your arms. Button shirts and wear the intended layer under jackets. Try trousers with your usual shoes.

Price and ongoing use

Compare composition, care, alterations and return postage as well as price. The number of Xs matters less than suitable proportions. Keep online-order packaging and record return deadlines.

Ask a tailor about feasible changes before buying trousers with a substantial waist or leg-length mismatch. Hemming is often simpler than changing the overall rise or shape, but fabric and hem construction affect the work. Save successful product codes and update measurements when needed; a precise record makes future shopping easier and less costly.
