Checking listings and introductions online
Verify people and arrangements before sharing documents or money.
Identify the source
Check who published an offer and how you can verify the organisation or property independently. An established-looking profile or group introduction is not a guarantee.
Check the details
Ask for a clear description, written conditions, complete price and appropriate evidence of authority. Compare those details with the official organisation or provider.
Avoid pressure
Pause when someone insists on immediate payment, secrecy or a move to an unfamiliar link. Do not let a claimed deadline replace verification.
Protect information
Share only what is needed with a verified recipient through a suitable channel. Keep identity documents, share codes, account details and personal addresses out of open chats.
Keep evidence
Retain relevant messages, agreements and receipts. Use the appropriate official reporting or support route if something appears wrong; a forum discussion cannot recover a payment by itself.
