Reconstruct the pigment history

Collect treatment dates, brands and shades where available, previous cover-ups and removal attempts. Show brows without makeup. Multiple pigment layers make identical outcomes impossible to promise from a photograph.

Clarify whether the aim is lightening for a new design or removing as much as possible. Preparation for a cover-up differs from complete removal. Request realistic expectations about residual colour and skin condition.

Compare methods

Ask the practitioner to explain laser and any proposed non-laser approach, including scarring, colour changes and limitations. Avoid home acid or improvised removal. A product called remover does not establish that skin cannot be injured.

BMLA publishes laser-treatment guidance ↗. This older professional document is background; the actual plan needs current device instructions and assessment. Ask whether a small test area is appropriate and how healing will be reviewed.

Work near the eyes

Check operator training, insurance, eye protection and complication arrangements. Treatment near an eye requires specific explanation; closed eyelids alone are not suitable protection for every laser. BMLA addresses qualifications and safety questions ↗.

Disclose medicines, tanning, skin conditions and reactions. Do not stop prescribed treatment independently to qualify for an appointment. Eye pain or vision changes require urgent clinical assessment.

Course cost

Request an estimated session range, intervals and per-session price including consultation, testing and follow-up. The session count remains an estimate. Establish how a course can stop if unexpected colour changes occur. Do not schedule new permanent makeup immediately after removal; timing depends on skin recovery.
