Establish whether the service uses laser or IPL, the device name and experience with your skin and hair colour. Ask why that technology is appropriate. Matching area names on price lists do not establish identical treatment.
Leeds NHS explains hair reduction and its limitations ↗. Reduced growth is not guaranteed complete permanent removal. A hospital programme's session count should not be applied to every commercial course.
Assessment and preparation
Disclose tanning, medicines, skin conditions, pregnancy and previous reactions. Ask about a test area and review timing. A negative test cannot exclude every complication at later appointments.
Obtain written preparation instructions for your clinic. Shaving, sunlight and skincare advice can depend on device and circumstances. Do not independently stop medicines. Report changes in health or medication between sessions.
Safety
Check operator training, insurance, eye protection and burn support. CQC explains cosmetic-regulation limits ↗; lack of a CQC listing alone does not establish that purely cosmetic laser treatment is unlawful. Check local licensing separately.
Discuss pigmentation changes, burns, scars and unexpected increased growth. Do not request stronger settings because another customer promises faster results. Pain and injury need professional assessment.
Course cost
Compare precise area boundaries, session numbers, package expiry, missed appointments, rescheduling and maintenance. Establish whether consultation and testing cost extra. Large prepaid packages may be inconvenient if travel or tanning disrupts the timetable. Obtain stopping and refund conditions before paying.
