Barbershops and salons may offer different skills and appointment formats. Clipped sides, a skin fade, longer scissor cuts and curls need an appropriate booking. Men's haircut alone does not show how much time is allowed for a substantial restyle.
Prepare photographs of your current hair and intended result. Discuss top length, the transition at the sides, neckline and how the hair sits without products. If you want to retain a longer shape, say so explicitly and look for relevant portfolio work.
Read the service menu
Pall Mall Barbers' menu ↗ separates haircuts, clipper-only services, fades, beard care and shaving. Checked on 7 October 2026, it lists a 30-minute Quality Haircut at £37.97 and a 60-minute Longer Haircut at £67.97. The page warns that services and prices vary; confirm the selected barber's conditions.

Clarify the extras
Ask whether washing, consultation and styling are included. Beard work, a wet shave, hot towels and separate grooming services may cost extra. Check whether the slot accommodates both hair and beard or requires a longer appointment.
Agree on the final sum before work begins. If an independent barber operates within the shop, establish who takes payment, handles changes and receives complaints. Keep the confirmation naming the professional as well as the address.
During the visit and afterwards
Show your usual parting and explain your morning styling time. Do not request a clipper number unless you understand the length: ask for an explanation and a cautious start. Mention sensitive skin before shaving.
Inspect the back and symmetry, and request a straightforward styling demonstration. Agree on the cost of maintaining sides or beard between full appointments. Save photographs of a successful result and the agreed lengths to make the next consultation easier.
