How to update your passport, name and contact details in your UKVI account

Update your UKVI account after replacing a passport or changing your name, phone number or address. These details are used to access the eVisa, contact you and match your status to your travel document. UKVI lists the details you can update ↗, including adding another passport or nationality.
This service updates an account; it does not change a visa decision. If the Home Office originally recorded the wrong status, use Report an error. To amend information in a pending visa or citizenship application, establish the separate procedure for that application.
Prepare documents and access
Sign in with the identifier already connected to the account and ensure access to its phone number or email. Have your new passport ready. To change your name, date of birth or nationality, the official service requires an identity document showing the new information. If you do not have one, the UKVI page ↗ provides a different procedure.
Record what you are changing and retain the submission confirmation. If you use two passports, check that the one you will travel with is added. Matching the number, name and expiry date matters for a carrier's automated checks.
Consider pending applications and travel
The current guidance ↗ warns that you cannot change your name or passport/travel document through this service while awaiting a visa application decision. If replacement is unavoidable, contact UKVI through the applicable channel and retain its answer. Do not try to bypass the restriction by creating another account.
For changes made outside the UK, the procedure depends on the details changed and whether your passport is biometric. The travel instructions ↗ explain when you can update the account yourself and when UKVI must do it; a visa application centre appointment for biometrics may sometimes be needed. Check the route before your return flight.
Verify completion, not just submission
After the update is completed, open your eVisa again. Check the new information and, if needed for your next step, whether you can obtain a share code. For travel, compare it with your airline's passenger information. An email acknowledging a request does not necessarily mean every detail has already changed.
If you have lost access to the old phone or email, use UKVI account recovery through the official page. When a child moves from parental account management to managing it independently, update the contacts. Keep confirmations privately and avoid unnecessarily sharing passwords or one-time codes with an intermediary.
