Going to a London salon with a child: childcare, access and realistic alternatives

Permission to bring a child is different from a nanny service or a supervised children's room. Public sources did not establish a general London salon network with permanently available crèches, so confirm an older recommendation before travelling.
State your child's age, the treatment length and whether you need a pushchair. Ask if the child can stay beside you, who remains responsible and whether treatment can be interrupted. Check steps, passage widths, pushchair space and feeding arrangements. Child-friendly alone does not answer these practical questions.
If supervised childcare is advertised
Obtain the provider's name, responsible adults, age limits, opening times and charges. Ask about advance booking, capacity, emergency contact and collection arrangements. The service may run only on particular days or be supplied by a separate organisation.
In England, the Ofsted area service ↗ helps locate childcare. The registration search ↗ explains that some nannies and childminders do not need registration and that certain records require a URN. A missing search result alone does not establish whether every arrangement is lawful; ask the provider to explain its category and applicable requirements.
Compare practical alternatives
A short appointment while a familiar adult looks after the child, or a salon near existing nursery arrangements, may be easier. Do not choose a long package simply because a comfortable baby seat is advertised: a seat is not supervision.
At-home appointments, for example through Secret Spa ↗, remove travel but do not remove childcare needs. Your hands are occupied during a manicure, and hair colour cannot always be interrupted immediately. Arrange another adult and a separate safe area.
Agree on changes beforehand
Request written cancellation terms for a child's illness or failed childcare arrangement. Establish whether the appointment can move and what happens to the deposit. Keep the agreed child-related arrangements with the booking confirmation.
For a first visit, a shorter service can help you assess the environment. If the salon cannot provide the agreed arrangements, discuss postponing before treatment begins. Do not leave your child with an administrator or another customer unless an appropriate arrangement has actually been agreed.
