How to apply for a Greek Schengen visa from the UK

Establish whether you need a visa

UK residence permission alone does not exempt you from Greek visa requirements. Check your nationality and document type against the Greek foreign ministry's UK guidance ↗. UK Travel Document holders may face different rules from British citizen passport holders.

An application to Greece must match your real itinerary. If your main stay is elsewhere, identify the competent consulate first. Study, employment or relocation requires checking a separate category.

Use the official GVCW route

Applications from the UK are submitted through Global Visa Center World ↗. Start by choosing the correct category and centre on that site. Keep the appointment confirmation, application form and current checklist. For a family, verify the booking membership and children's attendance rules before going to the centre.

The provider receives applications and biometrics but cannot guarantee a consular decision. Paying for a promise of approval or a multi-year visa is not a sound shortcut.

Align the whole application

Check the passport, evidence of UK status, accommodation, transport, bank documents and insurance against the latest list. If visiting relatives, establish the invitation format; if another person pays, check the required evidence of financial support.

Being married to an EU citizen does not always put you in a facilitated route: the free movement basis and whether you accompany or join that citizen matter. Do not select the category simply because a relative has an EU passport.

Avoid relying on old amounts

Older Greek pages remain online with outdated charges and time limits. Use the European Commission ↗ for the current general framework and current GVCW instructions for payment and local submission. Account separately for the visa fee, service charge and any chosen delivery.

Allow time for an appointment, examination and passport return. Once notified, follow collection instructions and check your name, dates, permitted days and entries on the sticker. Report errors before travel; if refused, use the procedure provided with the decision.
